Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority has issued a detailed report of the shunter accident, 11 people died in the accident and 13 were injured, including a child.
According to the report of the Government Natural Disaster Management Agency (GBDMA) in Gilgit-Baltistan, the accident occurred at 4 am today when an avalanche fell on three tents of nomads who were coming from Azad Kashmir to Astor via Shuntar, killing 11 people.

People were buried under the debris. As soon as the accident was reported, the district administration dispatched rescue teams to the accident site, which with the help of local people have removed 8 bodies from the wreckage and rescue operations are ongoing.
13 injured people have been shifted to DH Why Hospital Astor, out of which 12 people including a child are said to be in serious condition. Pakistan army soldiers and helicopters are also participating in the relief operations.
Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid has directed to provide all possible medical aid to the injured and to provide food and other necessities of life to the affected families. Commissioner Diamarastur Division Iltmish Janjua is supervising the rescue and relief operation.
