Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid called on Andreas Ferrarese, Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan in Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid said that the Italian government has started some projects for Gilgit-Baltistan but more projects need to be started for Gilgit-Baltistan.
The effects of climate change are being felt in Gilgit-Baltistan. Forests are being cut down due to severe weather and lack of alternative energy sources.
Pakistan and Italy have friendly relations. Expect more projects from the Italian government for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan. Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid also briefed the Italian Ambassador about the Village Development Plan being launched by the government and invited him to visit Gilgit-Baltistan
. Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid said that the Gilgit-Baltistan government was taking steps to promote eco-tourism and sustainable tourism. Gilgit-Baltistan is rich in different languages and cultures. Gilgit-Baltistan has vast investment opportunities in various sectors. Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, while inviting the private sector and companies to invest in the energy and tourism sector in Gilgit-Baltistan, said that the companies could work under BOT and public-private partnership.
The Italian Ambassador welcomed the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid and assured him that the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan would extend cooperation in various fields. Italian tourists visiting Gilgit-Baltistan admire its natural beauty. The Italian Ambassador invited the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid to visit Italy and said that we have worked for the development of mountainous areas in Italy and by the end of this year on culture, heritage protection and sustainable tourism.
The conference is being held in New Delhi to ensure the visit of various delegations to Gilgit-Baltistan. The Italian ambassador said that under the ETI project, more than 20 million euros would be invested in various sectors.
A plan will be launched to collect details of Gilgit-Baltistan glaciers. The Italian government will support the tourism sector, especially the promotion of winter tourism. The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan will be assisted in the promotion of eco-tourism in the light of the successful experience and results conducted in Italy. In order to highlight Gilgit-Baltistan at the international level, especially in Italy, a delegation of senior Italian journalists will be sent to Gilgit-Baltistan to shoot special documentaries and serials and broadcast them on international channels.
