Glacier Lake in Hunza threatens to erupt at any time, Meteorological Department. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the eruption of a glacial lake in Hassanabad area of Hunza at any time

.An alert issued by the Meteorological Department said that due to the slipping of the Shashpar Glacier and stopping the flow of water, there is a danger of eruption of the lake in Hassanabad Hunza.Probably, the next 3 to 4 weeks are very important in this regard, during which it is necessary to constantly monitor so that information about any emergency situation is obtained.

The Meteorological Department has recommended in the Gulf Alert that an automatic weather station be installed at Hassanabad Hunza. Water level and water discharge monitoring station should be installed on Shashpar Glacier till the arrival of Hydro Meteorological Equipment proposed by Glaf Project 2, besides immediate steps should be taken to ensure discharge of water from Glacier Lake for which hydraulic Siphon technique should be used to minimize the potential risk of water leakage

.According to the Meteorological Department, the technical team of the Meteorological Department The team is at Hunza and will go to the glacier soon in to install an automatic weather station on the lake. In this regard, the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority to provided water level gauge.
