Special message of Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid on the occasion of World Environment Daykgalid!
The effects of climate change are affecting the whole world, especially Gilgit-Baltistan. Most of the world’s glaciers are in Gilgit-Baltistan. Glaciers are melting due to adverse effects of climate change.
The local population is facing threats due to floods caused by the release of water from glacial lakes. We all need to play our role individually and collectively with the international community to prevent the effects of climate change. Attention must be paid to the protection of forests and planting of trees. Chairman Imran Khan’s 10 billion tsunami project is a beacon for all.
The government of Gilgit-Baltistan is taking practical measures including awareness campaigns to protect the natural environment and prevent environmental changes. People should also play their role in protecting the environment and cooperate with the government.
